Roles and Responsibilities: Contract maintenance is one part of a larger process designed to protect the rights of the bargaining unit members and to provide them with proper representation. It is the grievance procedure which makes the collective bargaining agreement work. Each PR&R Chairperson is responsible for promoting and enforcing adherence to the established rights and responsibilities of educators. Other important responsibilities are to:
- Assert the interest of teachers in the day-to-day application of the negotiated agreement and relevant provision of law and of school and association policy.
- Diagnose professional problems with its jurisdiction and assist in carrying out the most appropriate form of remedial action.
- Determine and institute a course of action that would lead to an equitable resolution in the interest of the profession.
- Review contract revisions with members of the Negotiating Team whenever changes are made.
- Attend monthly Executive Board meetings, Representative Assemblies, and Labor-Management meetings.
- Submit monthly newsletter articles w by the Monday following the RA..
- Carry out his/her duties as specified in Constitution and Bylaws.
The President will appoint the role of PR&R Chairpersons at the elementary level and at the middle/high school level for a term of three years.
