Roles and Responsibilities: The Secretary's most important function is to properly interpret the discussions at local association meetings. Failure to clearly record the proceedings of a meeting may confuse the officers and members of the association. It is the responsibility of the Secretary to:
- Accurately reflect action that takes place during monthly Executive Board meetings and Representative Assemblies by getting to the heart of each pertinent discussion.
- Keep a permanent minute binder and make the minutes and records available to members upon request.
- Maintain official files of correspondence, reports, and other Association documents.
- E-mail minutes from the Executive Board meeting to all Executive Board members within 10 days after the Executive Board meeting has been held (with a copy sent to the Executive Director's Secretary).
- E-mail minutes from the Representative Assembly meeting to all Executive Board members and Building Reps within 10 days after the RA (with a copy sent to the Executive Director's Secretary).
- Be a part of the decision-making Executive Board.
- Carry out his/her duties as specified in the Constitution and Bylaws.
The Secretary will be elected to a two-year term which begins in an odd-numbered year, taking office on June 1.
