Sandy has been the Executive Director for West Suburban Council since January 2000 and is only the third UniServ Director in the UniServs 30 plus year history. She has been a UniServ Director since 1988. Sandy has undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from UW-Whitewater and has done post-graduate work in industrial relations at UW-Madison. Her thirteen year teaching career began in Racine followed by three years in Illinois and the last ten years in Orfordville, Wisconsin. During that time she taught HS English, US History, Anatomy, physical education, health, adaptive physical education, and spent the majority of her teaching career teaching junior high and high school ED (now BD) and computer technology.
Her interest in collective bargaining and employee rights began in college and continued throughout her teaching career as a local and UniServ leader and negotiator. She was part of the CAUS South UniServ Negotiations Cadre for six years prior to becoming a full-time UniServ employee in the SLUE UniServ.
Outside interests have included coaching everything under the sun, softball, serving as an emergency medical technician and demolition derby winner. Continuing passions include golf and reading. A recent milestone was completing a marathon to celebrate her 50 th birthday.
