Roles and Responsibilities: Public Relations plays the pivotal role of getting a clear message prepared for presentation at every given opportunity. This may include at local businesses, festivals, in the school, parent-teacher conferences, school board meetings, and before the media. The successful execution of these responsibilities will require that the PR Chairperson seek local members to provide assistance with most activities. Duties include both external and internal public relations, including:
- Developing and conducting programs which will serve the best interests of the Association and acquaint the public with the importance of education.
- Developing and conducting programs for the orientation of new teachers to the community, the school system, and the Association.
- Dispensing information for weeks that have been designated for honoring support personnel and teachers.
- Attending monthly Executive Board meetings and Representative Assemblies.
- Taking a leadership position and helping to organize activities on the Crisis Committee.
- Organizing such social activities as may serve the needs of members and promote fellowship within the Association.
- Organizing awards for volunteers who provide assistance in our schools throughout the year at the Friends of Education banquet.
- Organizing the annual Spring Recognition Party held to honor retirees during the month of May.
- When appropriate, submit monthly newsletter articles by the Monday following the RA.
- Carrying out his/her duties as specified in Constitution and Bylaws.
The President will appoint the role of Public Relations Chairperson for a term of three years.
